Alexandra Headland: a locals' guide from Northpoint
Alex, as everyone calls it, is the stretch of beachfront between Mooloolaba and Maroochydore. It has a patrolled beach, a surf club, a skate park and a boardwalk. Here's what's within reach of 2 Mary Street.

On foot
Beach access 162 is directly across the road. The patrolled flags are in front of the Alexandra Headland SLSC, a short walk south along the sand. Reliable right-hand point break at the headland for surfers; flagged area for families.
Bistro and bar with ocean views. Kids welcome.
Skate park on the foreshore and the headland lookout for whale watching between June and November.
Breakfast and coffee along the parade.
Walk the coastal boardwalk south to Mooloolaba's restaurants, The Wharf and SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast aquarium.
By car or bus
The coast's biggest shopping centre, cinemas and Ocean Street dining.
Direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Auckland.
Beerwah, via the Bruce Highway.
Hastings Street, Noosa National Park and the Everglades.
Wednesday and Saturday markets, then Montville and Maleny.
Straight up the Bruce Highway.
Bus stops are right outside on Alexandra Parade (Sunbus routes 600 series along the coast).
